Izak Smit has been the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Provident Society (Pty) Ltd (PPS) since July 2016. PPS is a financial services company dedicated to serving graduate professionals. With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, stretching across group benefits, wealth management, short- and long-term insurance and distribution, Izak has held various senior leadership roles. Before joining PPS, he served as the Managing Executive of Absa Life and then of Absa Wealth and Investment Management Distribution.
Izak's academic and professional background is rooted in actuarial science. He is currently a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa. He also holds a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the Saïd Business School at Oxford University, UK. He is a member of various PPS boards as well as the Vice Chairman of the International Cooperatives and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF). He and Liezel have two adult sons. Izak is a keen sportsman who often participates in various activities with his boys.
