Purpose

The 3rd CM50 Meeting in Madrid will bring together the cooperative and mutuals leaders to strengthen a shared vision, co-create a unified commitment plan, and prepare for the upcoming World Social Summit in Doha this November. Through strategic dialogue and collaboration, the meeting aims to reinforce advocacy efforts, define tangible workstreams, and collectively advance an enabling environment for the growth and development of cooperatives and mutuals worldwide.

Objectives

  1. Strengthen the global cooperative and mutuals leadership network through collaboration and a shared strategic vision.

  2. Finalize key advocacy strategies and the CM50 manifesto for the World Social Summit.

  3. Co-develop a concrete commitment plan for 2025 (UN International Year of Cooperatives) and the 2026–2030 strategic period.

  4. Outline a long-term roadmap for cooperative and mutuals engagement beyond 2030, aligned with emerging global policy priorities.

Expected Outcomes

  • A clearly defined set of strategic goals that are actionable and impactful.

  • Specific action items to advance cooperative and mutuals leadership and advocacy.

  • A strengthened sense of collective ownership and engagement among CM50 members.

  • A shared direction for cooperative and mutuals engagement leading into Doha and beyond.

Day 1 – Wednesday, May 21

Participants will work in small rotating groups around three key themes:
