A doctor specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics. In 1990, became a member of Unimed Itapetininga (SP), where he held management positions and has been president since 2001. In 2021, he took up the position of Director of Health Management at Unimed do Brasil. He was director of Human and Institutional Development at the Federation of Unimeds of the State of São Paulo (Fesp), between 2014 and 2021, and a member of the Board of Directors of Unicred Campinas (SP). He also held the positions of president and vice-president of Unimed Federação Intrafederativa Sudeste Paulista. Since March 2022, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Health Cooperative Organization (IHCO) and, in 2024, he became Brazil's full representative on the Board of Directors of Cooperativas de las Américas, the Regional Office for the Americas of the International Cooperative Alliance. Has an MBA in Health Services Management from The Wharton School in Pennsylvania and the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), a postgraduate degree in Business Management from Profuturo-FIA, and has worked in leading institutions on innovative health models in the UK, Holland, France and Germany, on exchange for Sescoop/SP.
Founded in 1975, Unimed do Brasil - Confederação Nacional das Cooperativas Médicas (National Confederation of Medical Cooperatives) is a non-profit organization that plays the role of political and institutional representative of the Unimed System, the largest system of medical cooperatives in the world, with operations in more than 92% of the Brazilian territory.
It manages the brand and is committed to ensure systemic governance, strategic direction, cultural identity and Unimed's values, supporting the Federations and Branches in materializing the Unimed System's purpose with more than 20 million clients.
Through the Unimed Constitution and the Derivative Rules, it regulates the operation of the 338 medical cooperatives and their approximately 118,000 associate doctors. It provides guidelines and Institutional Strategic Programs that seek to strengthen the management of Unimeds.
