Stephen Gill
Coop Exchange
Stephen is the Founder and CEO of Coop Exchange, bringing over three decades of tech industry experience to the cooperative movement. He began his journey by leading a management buyout of a technology firm in 2004, eventually transforming the company into a cooperative in 2020. As an active figure within cooperative networks, Stephen has presented to the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and served on boards with Coops UK and workers.coop, the UK’s representative bodies for cooperatives.
Stephen graduated from St. Mary’s University in Canada with a Master’s in Cooperative Management and Credit Unions, earning the prestigious Pobihuschy Medal for exemplifying cooperative principles. Driven by his passion to revolutionise cooperative financing, Stephen conceived Coop Exchange in 2018 to create an ethical investment platform, empowering coops and businesses seeking to embrace the cooperative model to grow sustainably and ensure equitable returns for workers, users, and investors.
